The Sploot

Canine Culture

Hello everyone, CEO Olivia here. I can sploot & do it often, but my fur sister Suzie Q can’t sploot at all. So, what is a sploot? What’s splooting? I’ll explain.

At home we call it doing the “frog Dog”, but for this article it’s the sploot. The sploot is a type of stretch that some dogs & cats do. The sploot is defined as a dog or cat laying on their belly while stretching their legs straight out behind them. When huMom see’s me splooting, she always smiles.

There are a lot of reasons why a good dog might sploot. Often we just need a good stretch in our hips & legs. Splooting feels good. When I’m feeling hot I like to sploot on the cool kitchen tiles. I can cool my belly that way.

Does your good dog or cat like to sploot? I’d like to see some pictures. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go sploot on the kitchen floor.

Artist Leslie Franklin

Canine Culture

To end off this week I thought I’d share some more wooftastic art. Leslie Franklin is an award winning Canadian artist who began by drawing dogs (3 bum swings). She won her first award for art when she was in grade three.

Working mainly in water color & ink, her style combines elements of realism with free flowing, non-traditional methods. Her choice of vibrant colors produce expressive, unconventional results.

Leslie has been exhibiting her art professionally for over 30 years across Canada & the United States. She has had many solo shows with her first one being at Eaton’s Gallery of Fine Art at the age of 21.

Times like this, I wish my dog vision wasn’t so limited. BOL!

Have a wooftastic weekend.

Pupper Mache

Canine Culture

Today I’m sharing some pictures of pawsome paper mache dogs I discovered while sniffing about the inter-webs. I couldn’t decide what one’s were my favorites, so with my huMom’s help, we made a slide show. Which one is your favorite?

I also sniffed out a place that has all kinds of recipes for paper mache. You could make your own paper mache dog. I might even try it. BOL!

Have a wooftastic weekend.
